Piston - Big-bore Modifications and more,...

The hot-rodders time honored #1 technique is bigger pistons. Stroker crankshafts is second,...but regardless,..bigger is always better. Modern boring and plateau honing is an exacting machining and finishing process, requiring patience and experience. Proper clearancing and finish detail is absolutely critical to any high performance motor's power and longevity. The latest methods can exceed original equipment specifications and promote increased durability and strength. Replacing sleeves, along with boring and 'Nikasil' re- plating, can allow greater engine displacements than more common aftermarket kits.

Stage I

Modify stock pistons (4 cyl)

  1. Radius & relieve
  2. Balance to plus/minus 1/4 gram
  3. Plateau/torqueplate/Hone cylinder & fit rings
  4. Bench break-in piston/ring assembly to cylinder

$300.00 plus parts, coatings add $25 per piston


4 cyl Stage II Cosworth, JE, BRC, Arias, etc.

Piston kits includes all Stage I prep plus:

  1. Bore + latest plateau/hone one oversize

$850.00 complete, ready to assemble


4 cyl Stage II Wiseco

Same as Stage II above except with Wiseco pistons.(best performance deal)

$700.00 -(add $20 per piston/additional oversize) complete


4 cyl Stage III

Wiseco, J.E., Arias, Cosworth, etc piston/sleeve/block kits. Includes all above plus:

  1. Remove and install new sleeves
  2. Bore upper case half to fit
  3. Mill cylinder assembly (must replace cylinder studs where indicated)

$1050.00 and up


4 cyl Stage IV

Custom Big Bore maximum oversize piston/sleeve kits. (Yamaha FZR 1125 & 1165 & 1183 and all others). Includes all above plus:

    1. Custom pistons/blocks (various manufacturers)
    2. All fitting and set-up included (must replace cylinder studs)
    3. Custom titanium or steel rods recommended
    4. Stroker cranks, cryo'd, billet, welded, etc

    NOTE: Stock studs will fail to hold after several disassemblies or with high cyl pressure (squeeze, turbo's)...Don't ignore this!!
